Kubernetes

Kubernetes is an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. The core Kubernetes software has all been ported to 64-bit Arm systems.

A Kubernetes system has a number of components, including an ingress controller, a load balancer, and a network fabric. In many cases there is more than one choice for the software used by each portion of the system.

Kubernetes 1.16.0, the most recent version, was released on September 18th, 2019 and was the third version released in 2019.

    Status of Kubernetes on Arm

Kubernetes clusters are readily deployed on Arm based single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi for the purposes of training and education. A common preparation uses Ansible to automate the setup and configuration of four to six systems in a little network. Tutorials from Hypriot, Chris ShortKarol Stepniewski, and Miek Gieben each show a slightly different approach to cluster setup.
