Hugo is a fast and flexible static website generator written in Go. It is optimized for speed, easy use and configurability. Hugo takes a directory with Markdown content plus appropriate templates and renders them into a full HTML website.

Hugo renders a typical website of moderate size in a fraction of a second. A good rule of thumb is that each piece of content renders in around 1 millisecond.

Supported Architectures for Hugo

Pre-built Hugo binaries are built for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD and macOS (Darwin) and Android for x64, i386 and ARM architectures. Because it is written in Go, it supports any system where Go runs. A current release is 0.49 of September 24, 2018.

A number of unofficial Hugo Docker images exist, none of which as of October 2017 have full multi-architecture support. An open issue, Docker Official Image for Hugo, tracks a request for this effort.
